Meet the Need In Our Church

In June 2011, we began “Bridging the Generations”, a six month giving campaign. One of the initiatives of the campaign was to hire an architectural firm to provide a facilities master plan for our facilities at 2201 Whispering Pines Road. The firm hired was Clark Patterson Lee. They have done a comprehensive facilities study and provided the Vision Planning Team with a master plan for facilities.

The master plan will result in a dramatic change to our campus. There is something new for every age-group in our church. The biggest issues identified were: the preschool and children were meeting in dated buildings with less than adequate space; the youth are meeting in rented facilities off-site; dated buildings were creating congested traffic flow; the main entrance did not align to the traffic pattern; limited parking near Worship Center; the Fellowship Center did not have adequate floor space for church-wide fellowship; and the older buildings were not energy efficient. The proposed design met all of these needs while keeping the footprint of our facility on the current property.

The new main entrance will have parking closer to accommodate members and guests. By building new buildings and renovating existing areas, we will provide new environments for Youth, children and preschool. There will also be additional space for Sunday School and discipleship. In order to improve traffic, hallways will be expanded and a second floor walkway will be created between the new spaces and the balcony of the worship center. A second elevator will also be added to the property. A new kitchen will be built which will serve both the Fellowship Center and a new Café. The Café will be a part of a community space with a bookstore and an indoor playground.
