Meet the Need in Our World

Mission 2020

The focus of Mission 2020 is to affect the lives of people at our doorsteps and people around the world. This vision goes far beyond our imagination. So to effectively communicate the gospel outside our community, we have partnered with other organizations to help spread the gospel. This plan allows us to step up our mission efforts and more than double what we have done in the last 50 years as a church.

With support from the International Mission Board, we will for the first time, adopt a people group and share the good news to a population who may have never heard the name of Jesus. These populations are called Unreached, Unengaged People Group (UUPG) and Unreached People Group (UPG)

A UUPG is a people group who are less than 2% Evangelical and there is no known, intentional, church-planting strategy among them. A UUPG has no coordinated evangelical Christian missionary presence among them. UUPGs have never heard the gospel, or they may have been exposed to the gospel in the past, but have been forgotten. There are 3,800 unengaged, unreached people groups in the world today.

After prayerful consideration, we chose to focus on the Dutch people who live along the border of Germany. Through the International Mission Board, we have partnered together to impact and reach the Dutch people in Germany through multiple mission trips and gifts.

A UPG is a homogeneous population group identified by a common language, heritage and religion with no church movement having sufficient strength, resources and commitment to sustain and ensure the continuous multiplication of churches. A UPG is a people group among which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians with adequate numbers and resources to evangelize this people group. It is a people group in which the number of evangelical Christians totals less than 2% percent of the population with little or no access to the gospel, where no one has started an evangelical church in the past two years. This represents approximately 6,000 people groups - 1.7 billion people in the world.

The nation of Cuba has been selected as our UPG. Through the International Mission Board, we have partnered together to impact and reach the people of Cuba through multiple mission trips and gifts.

National Missions

Our goal is to start 12 new churches by 2020. We began this process by partnering with the North American Mission (NAM) Board years ago to help plant East Baltimore Baptist Church and Captivate Church in Baltimore, Maryland, as well as, Epic Church in San Francisco. Through 2016, we have supported the following church plants:

Life Church in New Orleans, LA
Epic Church in San Francisco, CA
Captivate Church in Baltimore, MD
East Baltimore Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD
Gateway Church in the Heights in Cleveland, OH
New City Church in Long Island City, NY (prayer partners)
Story City Church in Burbank, CA

In years to come, our goal is to help plant churches and support them with on-going mission trips.
